Fraxel Laser Resurfacing
FRAXEL LASER TREATMENT IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Fraxel: the award-winning, revolutionary, fractional, resurfacing laser! Fraxel laser treatments help improve tone, texture and radiance for aging, sun-damaged or scarred skin. Fraxel is for people who want to look younger without dramatic changes or extended downtime. Treat all skin tones, all over the body.
A noticeably younger look without surgery.
Fraxel is a 1550nm, fractional, resurfacing laser that treats the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin, boosting collagen production and revealing smoother, healthier skin. Fractional resurfacing lasers deliver laser energy in a grid-like pattern, leaving surrounding skin intact. This reduces downtime and discomfort and also increases the range of treatable skin types in comparison with non-fractional resurfacing lasers. Density (percentage of skin that is treated) can be adjusted as needed depending on skin tone, skin condition, and expectations for treatment. The exact depth of Fraxel treatment is also determined by laser settings.
With a wavelength of 1550nm, Fraxel is a superficial to medium-depth laser, making it a great all-around choice for skin rejuvenation, treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, various types of pigmentation, irregular texture, enlarged pores, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. Treat the face, eye contour, neck, hands, and even decolletage. Fraxel laser treatments can be combined with other laser or aesthetic treatments for synergistic results in the case of acne scar treatment, rhytid (wrinkle) rejuvenation, or treatment of mixed types of pigmentation.

Before and After
FAQ’s
How many Fraxel laser treatments do I need?
The number of recommended treatments depends on skin condition, skin type, and also treatment expectations. In general, we recommend a series of Fraxel treatments, with a minimum of four weeks between each session.
What is a Fraxel laser treatment like?
Our experienced providers will assess skin before treatment begins. Topical numbing cream is applied to treatment areas to reduce discomfort during treatment. Before treatment begins, the topical numbing is removed and skin is cleansed and disinfected. Laser goggles or metal eye shields will be placed to protect the eyes during treatment. Cool air can be provided during treatment to further increase treatment comfort. The Fraxel handpiece delivers laser energy when the handpiece is rolled over the skin. The handpiece is rolled in parallel strokes over treatment areas until fully covered, which is considered one “pass.” The number of passes and laser energy settings will depend on skin type, treatment combinations, skin condition, and treatment expectations. These parameters are determined by our providers to maximize outcomes while delivering safe and comfortable treatments for each individual’s skin type. Treated skin may experience some swelling, discomfort, warmth, and be pink or red immediately post-treatment. After treatment concludes, a cooling mask and ice packs may be used to calm and soothe skin.
Does Fraxel have any pre-treatment precautions?
Make sure to avoid sun exposure and use daily SPF on treatment areas for a minimum of two weeks before treatment. Reschedule treatments in case of active illness, antibiotic usage, cold sore outbreak, recent vaccinations, or other recent aesthetic treatments in the same area. Shave treatment areas 1-2 days before an appointment to allow enough hair regrowth for proper treatment. Make sure to avoid plucking, threading, or waxing treatment areas before treatment, as laser hair removal requires the hair root to be intact to be successful. Discontinue harsh topicals or actives such as retinoids, AHAs, pigment-inhibiting products, or strong exfoliants on treatment areas 2-3 days before treatment.
After a Fraxel treatment, what post-treatment care do I need?
Avoid exposure to steam, saunas, vigorous exercise, or very hot water for 24 hours immediately after treatment. This is to prevent blistering of the skin due to excessive heat exposure. Avoid shaving, exfoliating, usage of harsh topicals, and sun exposure on treated areas for several days post-treatment. There can be some pinpoint scabbing, peeling, and irritation of treated skin for several days after treatment. Daily SPF is recommended to protect skin after laser treatment. Hydrating skin helps reduce feelings of dryness or tightness after treatment. Topical hydrocortisone can be used as needed to soothe redness or irritation.
