Breaking out and trying to decide between a DSC Acne Facial or a DiamondGlow Facial? Here’s a short list of which treatment is best for you and when!
DiamondGlow is a 3-in-1 facial treatment device from Allergan Aesthetics (the makers of Botox) that simultaneously exfoliates, infuses, and extracts. The DiamondGlow handpiece infuses SkinMedica serums into the skin while simultaneously providing gentle suction. As the handpiece is glided over treated skin, this suction brings skin to the interchangeable diamond grit tips to exfoliate the skin. The suction then draws away the waste serum and sloughed-off debris, sebum, and dead skin cells into a waste jar to be discarded.
There are several choices of SkinMedica ProInfusion Serums that can be used with the DiamondGlow treatment device. HA5 is the hydrating hyaluronic acid serum, TNS+ is the anti-aging serum with growth factors, Pore Clarifying is to help clear blemishes and clogged pores, Vitamin C helps with dull skin, and Even & Correct helps fade pigmentation and hyperpigmentation. Our experienced aestheticians will generally select the DiamondGlow serum that is best-suited for your skin’s individual needs. As demonstrated by the various serums that can be chosen, DiamondGlow facials can be tailored to target various skin concerns, including acne or post-acne hyperpigmentation.

A DSC Acne Facial is a ninety minute treatment designed to calm congested and inflamed skin. After steaming and cleansing, the majority of the treatment is dedicated to extractions and clearing clogged pores. This treatment includes high frequency and blue LED light therapy to kill acne-causing bacteria and to calm inflammation. A sulphur clay mask is applied to further calm blemishes and to help skin heal.
We offer three variants of DiamondGlow facials at DSC. The mini expressDiamondGlow treatment is generally not enough time to target active acne blemishes or excessive clogged pores because it is a one hour treatment. This treatment includes cleansing, the DiamondGlow treatment, and a subsequent mask but does not include extractions. This may be suitable for those who do not have active blemishes but are looking to help fade erythema or hyperpigmentation on the face after acne. Our DiamondGlow RF facial is two hours but generally dedicated more to anti-aging with the inclusion of a multipolar RF treatment portion to build collagen and tighten skin.
The best DiamondGlow facial to choose for active acne is our standard, two-hour DiamondGlow facial treatment. This facial includes normally steaming, cleansing, the DiamondGlow treatment device, ultrasonic infusion of skincare, face, neck, & arm massage, as well as a deeply-hydrating, pure-collagen sheet mask. When acne is a concern, the appropriate SkinMedica ProInfusion Serum will be chosen by our aestheticians. For acneic skin, less time will be dedicated to the massage portion in exchange for extractions and high frequency. The sulphur clay mask can be used under the collagen mask as necessary. This is a great facial to choose for dull, rough skin with clogged pores and some active blemishes. This is also a good facial to choose for those concerned about erythema or hyperpigmentation marks after acne.
In short, choose a DSC Acne Facial if the skin is very inflamed, there are many active comedones, and the skin needs a large amount of dedicated extractions. Choose a DiamondGlow facial for skin with fewer active comedones but more clogged pores or rough, dull skin. DiamondGlow can also be done on the body, such as the back, arms, and even butt to clear breakouts and even out skin tone!
