Live effortlessly in your skin all year long.
Laser hair removal works by selectively targeting unwanted hair follicles. By picking up on the color contrast between hair and skin, laser energy travels down the hair shaft to the root to heat the hair follicle. This prevents regrowth of hair without damaging surrounding tissue. Laser hair removal treatment is only effective when hairs are actively growing. It is not possible to visibly discern which hairs are in growth phases and which are in resting phases which is why several treatment sessions are necessary. The number of treatment sessions needed for satisfactory hair reduction depend on treatment area, skin tone, and hair density and color, and skin tone. Most people begin to see satisfactory results within a few treatment sessions.
Laser hair removal treatments at DSC are quick, convenient, and easy. Simply shave treatment areas 1-2 days before treatment to allow enough hair regrowth for satisfactory treatment. Our experienced providers will go over treatment expectations as well as pre- and post-treatment care. Sessions are quick; some areas may only need a few minutes of treatment. Most clients describe the sensation of laser treatment to be very tolerable and akin to the snap of a rubber band. Cooling and cold gel is also available to further soothe skin during treatment. With very little to no downtime after treatments, return to your day immediately!
At DSC, we use the InMode Triton platform with the Fusion Duo Light and Duo Dark DiolazeXL handpieces for laser hair removal treatments. This FDA-cleared laser utilizes three wavelengths of laser light to treat a wider range of skin types, from skin type I to skin type VI. Traditional hair removal laser devices generally utilize singular and shorter laser wavelengths and may not be able to safely treat darker skin types. Triton features a third wavelength that allows safer treatment for almost all skin tones. Additionally, the laser wavelengths are delivered in combination, allowing for better outcomes with fewer treatment sessions.

Before and After
FAQ’s
Am I a candidate for laser hair removal?
-
Suitability for laser hair removal depends on several factors, including age, skin tone, frequency of sun exposure, hair color, hair texture, and hair type. Hair that is very light in color, such as blonde or red hair, may be difficult to treat because of low amounts of melanin. For similar reasons, vellus hairs, or “peach fuzz,” can be difficult to treat. Treatment is precluded on freshly tanned skin; sun exposure should be avoided for at least two weeks prior to laser treatment. Hormonal changes like puberty can affect outcomes since fluctuating hormone levels can change hair production. Contraindications for treatment include pregnancy, breastfeeding, active illness or cold sore outbreak, treatment over open wounds or recent surgical sites, or hormonal changes that may inhibit treatment results. Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is classified as a form of hair reduction. It is a convenient and long-term solution to reducing unwanted hair on the face and body for both men and women, but it is possible that hormonal changes (e.g. pregnancy or puberty) can lead to a resurgence in hair growth even after treatment. Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal treatment, and may be an option for those who are not candidates for laser hair removal.
How to prepare for a laser hair removal treatment?
Make sure to avoid sun exposure and use daily SPF on treatment areas for a minimum of two weeks before treatment. Reschedule treatments in case of active illness, antibiotic usage, cold sore outbreak, recent vaccinations, or other recent aesthetic treatments in the same area. Shave treatment areas 1-2 days before an appointment to allow enough hair regrowth for proper treatment. Make sure to avoid plucking, threading, or waxing treatment areas before treatment, as laser hair removal requires the hair root to be intact to be successful. Discontinue harsh topicals or actives such as retinoids, AHAs, pigment-inhibiting products, or strong exfoliants on treatment areas 2-3 days before treatment.
What is a laser hair removal treatment like?
Our expert providers will assess treatment areas before beginning treatment. It is best to come with clean skin free of lotion or other skincare products. Eye protection will be provided in the form of laser goggles or metal eyeshields. Cool water-based gel will be applied to treatment areas to soothe skin during treatment. The laser handpiece is passed over the skin and feels like the snap of a rubber band. Some hairs may pop out from the root immediately upon contact with the laser, while others will remain intact and slowly fall out over the next few weeks to months. There may be some lingering redness or swelling in the treated hair follicles (looks almost like goosebumps) immediately after treatment that should resolve in a few minutes to hours.
What aftercare is there for laser hair removal?
Avoid exposure to steam, saunas, vigorous exercise, or very hot water for 24 hours immediately after treatment. This is to prevent blistering of the skin due to excessive heat exposure. Avoid shaving, exfoliating, usage of harsh topicals, and sun exposure on treated areas for several days post-treatment. Daily SPF is recommended to protect skin after laser treatment. Topical hydrocortisone can be used as needed to soothe redness or irritation.
