BOTOX® is a highly purified protein that can temporarily erase or reduce horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines, and crow’s-feet. The injections slow muscles that contract hundreds of times a day, which eventually leads to the etching of a line in the skin. BOTOX® can also lift the corners of the mouth that sag with age, smooth out the “pin cushion” look in some chins, soften smoker’s lines around the mouth, and soften vertical neck cords. It is a simple, non-surgical treatment and can be administered in people 18 to 65 years of age.
Before and After
Are BOTOX® injections safe ?
How soon will I see results?
BOTOX® typically begins to take effect after a few days, but full results can take up to 14 days or more.
How is the BOTOX® treatment performed and how long do the effects last ?
This simple 10-minute procedure consists of a few tiny injections. Using a tiny micro-needle, BOTOX® is injected into several locations on the face. The needle is so fine that discomfort associated with the injection is minimal, similar to a bug bite. No numbing medication or pain killer is required. The effects of BOTOX® are temporary, usually lasting about three to four months.
What side effects or downtime can I expect from a BOTOX® treatment?
Temporary redness and bruising at injection points is the most common side effect. Bruising can be more likely in patients who take blood thinner medications, low-dose aspirin therapy, or supplement with fish oil.
While there is no downtime for BOTOX® treatments, care should be taken to not lay flat, press, rub, massage, or otherwise disturb treatment areas for the first few hours after treatment. It is best to avoid heavy exercise and intense steam or sauna for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
