BOTOX TREATMENT LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Botox is an FDA-approved injectable cosmetic treatment that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially on the forehead, crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines between the eyebrows, and vertical bands of the neck. Treatments are quick and minimally invasive with no downtime; results last between three to four months before naturally wearing off. With millions of treatments performed annually, Botox is the number one performed aesthetic treatment in the world.
Dynamic lines are the wrinkles that appear on the face only when animating – frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows. Repeated contraction and movement of facial muscles is what causes fine lines and wrinkles to develop over time on overlying skin even at rest (static lines). Derived from botulinum toxin type A, Botox works by interrupting communication between nerves and muscles, thereby preventing treated muscles from contracting. This mechanism is how Botox helps temporarily smooth existing lines. With consistent treatment, Botox can even prevent worsening of existing lines and the formation of new lines (“preventative Botox”).
In addition to the forehead, crow’s feet, glabellar frown lines, and neck, Botox can be used to treat: bunny lines (scrunching the nose), the jawline (masseters) for clenching (bruxism) or contouring purposes, chin dimpling (mentalis), a “lip flip” to evert the upper lip when smiling, excessive nostril flaring, drooping of the nose tip when smiling, a “gummy smile,” downturned corners of the mouth (DAO), jowls due to overactive platysmal band contraction, the traps to contour the neck and shoulders, and even the calves to shape the leg contour. Botox can even treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) in the underarms.

Before and After

FAQ’s
What is a Botox treatment like?
First, our providers assess your facial anatomy and go over expectations for your treatment. If necessary, topical numbing cream will be applied for a few minutes in order to make treatment more comfortable. In most cases, an ice pack applied to treatment areas beforehand makes treatment very comfortable. An ultra fine needle is used to precisely inject treatment areas. Lastly, treatment areas may be iced for a few minutes post-treatment to reduce redness and risk of bruising.
How much Botox do I need?
This amount will depend on the condition of treatment areas and expectations for treatment. Botox quantity is measured in “units.” Standard Botox vials come with 100 units. FDA clinical trials determined that 20 units for the forehead, 20 units for frown lines (between the eyebrows), 12 units per side for the crow’s feet, and 36 units for the platysmal bands (for a total of 100 units) is sufficient for excellent results in most people. In this case, “excellent” means that these amounts are enough to to reduce moderate to severe lines for the prescribed duration of time, 3 to 4 months, for the majority of people treated.
Individual expectations and anatomy may necessitate more or less units per area, especially in other treatment areas. We recommend scheduling a free consultation in order to determine the amount that is right for you.
When do I see results from a Botox treatment?
Botox begins to work a few days after treatment, with full effect taking place after about 14 days. In some larger treatment areas (e.g. the jawline and shoulders), full effect may be apparent after about 4 weeks.
How long does a Botox treatment last?
With appropriate treatment dosage, the results from a Botox treatment should last between three to four months before beginning to wear off. While it is always possible to undertreat an area (in comparison to FDA recommended dosage) to maintain some amount of dynamic movement, this will affect the longevity of a treatment’s results. As Botox begins to wear off, dynamic motion is gradually regained to pre-treatment levels; it does not vanish “all in one go.”
Does Botox get rid of all my wrinkles?
It depends. Because Botox relaxes the muscles that contribute to the formation of facial wrinkles, consistent and adequate treatment can reduce the appearance of static lines. Mild to moderate lines and wrinkles may be completely eliminated without additional treatments.
For more severe lines & wrinkles, or skin that presents with sun damage and/or volume loss, adjunctive treatments may be necessary to ensure best results. These can include dermal fillers, laser treatments, skin boosters, and more.
