Thermage FLX/CPT in California

Thermage makes it easy to treat sagging, wrinkled skin on the face, around the eyes, and elsewhere.  This non-invasive, non-surgical procedure can tighten skin and contour skin in a single treatment session.

These non-invasive, radiofrequency energy treatments have a couple of advantages over other in-office skincare treatments you may be familiar with. There are no injections and no fillers involved. Laser treatment does not work on all skin types or every skin color, but Thermage does. Thermage also works on all parts of the face, from forehead to chin.

Understanding Your Skin

To understand Thermage FLX/CPT, you need to understand a few things about your skin. It has three layers, the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutaneous layer. Collagen is the key component of the dermis, while collagen fibers are in the subcutaneous layer.

Age, genetics, and sun damage all cause sagging and wrinkles. The damage happens below the epidermis, so surface treatments might not work. The natural aging process also leads to crepiness, thinness, and fragility in certain areas. Those areas wrinkle more easily.

How Thermage Works

Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate all three layers of the skin. The radio waves strengthen existing collagen and promote collagen production, which is the key to a smooth, youthful look. Over time, this new collagen growth naturally improves the appearance of a patient’s skin. This is an FDA-approved procedure too.

Results may last for several years, depending on the patient’s age and skin condition. The full benefits of your treatment may not appear for a few months, but one treatment is almost always enough to restore smooth, toned skin. Thermage does not require annual procedures to “maintain” the patient’s skin.

Getting the Procedure

The treatments are simple in-office procedures carried out by licensed technicians. No special preparation is required, and patients can resume normal activities right away. How many treatments do most people need? Patients typically see results after a single treatment. Treatment time is 20 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the area being treated. Laser treatments may require multiple sessions.

This procedure has an excellent safety record. Some patients experience a little redness or minor swelling in the treatment area, but that goes away after 24 hours. After treatment, you will be able to go right back to your normal schedule.

Where it Works

Thermage treatments work to contour skin anywhere a person might benefit from a skin tightening procedure. The treatment can improve the appearance of skin in several common “problem” areas:

  • Face – tightening sagging skin on jowls and chin, contouring the jawline, improving tone and texture
  • Arms – reducing crepiness, improving texture and tone
  • Eyes – reducing crow’s feet, fine lines, and wrinkles;  smoothing upper and lower eyelids while improving tone and texture
  • Thighs – smooths texture, tightens, and tones
  • Belly – tightens loose skin resulting from pregnancy or weight loss.

Thermage skin tightening treatment works after one session, though it may take up to six months before the full effect of your treatment becomes obvious in the form of a more youthful appearance.

After Thermage treatment, you need to perform normal maintenance and wear sunscreen to protect yourself from more long-term damage.

The Face: as we age, phrases like “turkey neck,” loose jowls, sagging skin, and “what happened to my jawline” creep in. Thermage smooths lines and wrinkles and remodels collagen for the overall health of the skin.

The Body: aging doesn’t just affect the skin on our faces, our bodies see the effects too, with creepy, sagging skin and unwanted bulges and dimples. Thermage is a non-invasive way to smooth the skin on our bodies and even improve the appearance of cellulite.
