Thermage Eyes

Thermage Eyes

Thermage Eyes is a non-surgically procedure used by medical personnel to tighten and lift the eyelid skin.  It works best on problems such as reducing fine wrinkles above and below the eye, reducing hooding of the upper eyelids, making the eyes look more open, and it also helps to maintain the results of an eyelid surgery.  The Thermage procedure uses radiofrequency energy to create a uniform heating effect in the deep dermis. This gentle heating tightens existing collagen and stimulates the production of new collagen which is followed by gradual collagen tightening. The result is a more youthful appearance to loose and sagging skin.

While the results of a Thermage treatment have been observed to last for more than 1 year, as with virtually all skin restorative techniques, including surgical facelifts, the original aging symptoms may slowly return as the aging and sun damage process continues.

Thermage Eyes is for mild to moderate loose skin on the eyelid, not major sagging or hooding.  For the 5-10% who do not see visible tightening, should still think there is good news because it helps to prevent sagging over the next year or two. Preserving what you have is still a benefit.

The Thermage Eyes procedure takes about one hour depending upon the size of your eyelids. Some patients have their foreheads done at the same time. This helps to lift the eyebrows.  If you are also treating your forehead, it will take about 90 minutes.

You may return to your normal activities immediately after the Thermage treatment, as there is no down time. Makeup can be applied immediately after the treatment session. Minimal redness is seen in some patients after treatment, but it generally disappears within several hours.  Bruising and discomfort are rare after the Thermage procedure. Occasionally mild swelling is noticed after the treatment but disappears in two or three days.

Generally, for patients between the ages of 30-50, one treatment may be enough. If age is over 50, it is possible that two treatments may be needed to produce noticeable improvement.  It is advisable to wait at least approximately 3 months before repeating the Thermage treatment.

As far as maintenance is concern, many people find repeating their Thermage treatments once a year very helpful.  For those over 50, it may be best to repeat the treatment a bit more frequently.

Thermage Eye is a treatment that is compatible with fillers injections.  When administered correctly, the combination of the treatments can yield fantastic results.  Depending on the type of filler, the strategy of when to do which procedure first and how much time in between the treatments may differ.  Ask our consultant about your choice of filler so that we can help you map out your ideal regimen.

We recommend to not have Thermage Eyes if you have had any eye surgery or laser treatment to the eye in the past 6 months.  Or, if you plan to schedule any eye surgery or eye laser treatment, set that activity at least 2 months from your Thermage Eyes treatment. This is recommended to ensure optimum results for both procedures.  Consult your eye specialist regarding your specific situation.
