Sculptra

Turn back the clock and restore youthful volume with Sculptra!
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that kickstarts collagen production, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and gradually restoring volume & fullness for up to two years. Collagen is essential for maintaining skin structure, firmness, and elasticity. As we age, bone is naturally broken down to be reabsorbed and our skin loses collagen, leading to hollowing of the face, volume loss, wrinkles, and sagging. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid dermal fillers which volumize by virtue of staying put and attracting water, Sculptra stimulates long-lasting collagen production over time, resulting in a rejuvenated appearance that is refreshed and natural-looking.
Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA, a biostimulatory substance that triggers endogenous collagen production. Over a series of treatments, Sculptra can help restore fullness to hollow areas, soften contours, help reduce deep wrinkles, and even firm and smooth skin. PLLA is biocompatible with the body and biodegradable; once it has triggered the collagen production response, it is gradually broken down into lactic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body.
Sculptra is designed to treat a variety of facial areas, including hollow cheeks and temples. Building collagen in these foundational areas also helps firm skin and smooth lines. Typically, treatment is repeated once every four to six weeks, with the minimum recommended number of treatments being your age divided by ten. Results will gradually become apparent after several weeks, especially with repeated treatment.
If you’re ready to take the next step toward more youthful, rejuvenated skin, schedule a consultation with one of our expert providers at DSC. We’ll help determine if Sculptra is the right treatment for you and create a personalized plan to help you achieve your skincare goals.

Before and After
FAQ’s
Why choose Sculptra?
Sculptra Aesthetic addresses multiple signs of facial aging. As we age, the natural loss of facial volume and the development of hollow areas of the face can result in a more tired or sunken appearance. Because this generally happens in the lateral areas of the face such as the temples or cheeks and is hard to see face on, it can be difficult to articulate exactly why we suddenly appear “old. ” Furthermore, as collagen naturally diminishes in the skin, skin loses elasticity, develops wrinkles, and begins sagging.
As a PLLA collagen stimulator, Sculptra helps restore collagen to diminish facial volume loss and helps smooth lines & wrinkles. Think of Sculptra as a well-maintained foundation for the “house” that is the face. As the PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production in injected areas. Collagen strands rebuild gradually, helping to restore lost volume in hollow areas and providing “scaffolding” to the underlying layers to help diminish the look of wrinkles and smooth and firm appearance of skin.
If you want to appear more youthful-looking — without appearing like you’ve had work done — then chances are Sculptra may be a good choice for you.
What is a Sculptra treatment like?
Topical numbing is applied to treatment areas. Once sufficiently comfortable, a needle is used to introduce a port opening in the treatment areas. This minimizes the number of needle entry points needed for treatment. Sculptra is then injected with a cannula in a even, fanning motion manner all throughout treatment areas, ensuring even coverage. Once finished, the treatment areas are massaged to help absorption and help stimulate the collagen production process.
How many treatments are required?
Minimum recommended treatments for Sculptra is your age divided by ten. For example, five treatments are recommended for someone in their fifties for age-related volume loss in the face. Each person is different; some may be candidates for more or less treatments depending on individual anatomy and skin condition.
Which areas does Sculptra treat?
Sculptra helps restore volume to hollow areas like the temples and pre-auricular areas of the cheeks. Sculptra also helps improve the appearance of shallow to deep wrinkles on the face.
Administered with the appropriate injection technique from a trained specialist, Sculptra can also be used in certain cases to rejuvenate textured acne scars.Sculptra is also commonly used to contour the body, such as in the hips.
Is Sculptra safe? What are the side effects?
Sculptra is FDA-approved and made of a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer called poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. “Biocompatible” means that it is safe and not harmful in the body. PLLA absorbs slowly in injected areas and triggers the collagen-generation process, gradually breaking down over weeks and months to naturally occurring components such as lactic acid via the process of hydrolysis.
How soon will I see results?
Sculptra is designed to give you noticeable results that emerge gradually that can last two years or more. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t see immediate results. A few days after treatment, you may look as you did before treatment. This is normal and temporary. A Sculptra regimen delivers its full effects with an average of several treatment sessions over the course of a few months. Because results happen gradually, you’ll see subtle yet noticeable results in facial volume and skin quality improvement by comparing images before treatment and a couple of months following treatment.
