In the lead up to a wedding, many people start to look into beauty treatments in preparation. If you are new to beauty treatments, it can feel overwhelming to pick and choose what treatments to do. Here’s a breakdown of popular and recommended beauty treatments, from the ones suitable for everyone and anyone to the ultimate, over-the-top, “extra-est” treatments!
The most important thing when it comes to wedding prep is booking appointments with enough time to accommodate downtime after beauty treatments. Most treatments have recovery time and need time for results to be apparent. Therefore, we highly do not recommend scheduling treatments TOO close to the big day. For example, any injectable treatment comes with risk of bruising and can take anywhere from a few days or weeks for final results to be apparent. Scheduling treatments with plenty of time to recover means that you won’t need to stress about them on the big day. Facials
A facial is non-invasive, comfortable, and can be considered the finishing touch in wedding beauty prep. A facial results in clean, exfoliated, and hydrated skin, which is perfect for anyone preparing for a wedding. Facials are great for anyone, regardless of gender, age, or role in the wedding. If you have tried a facial before, scheduling a facial for the week of the wedding is a great way to prep the skin.
If you are new to facials or have never tried a facial at DSC, we suggest scheduling a facial earlier to test the waters and see how your skin reacts. While we rarely, if ever, have clients with skin reactions after a facial, it’s always best to book early to err on the side of caution. If no problems arise, feel free to then book a facial closer to the wedding to get glowing skin. Because we offer several different types of facials at DSC, pick the option best suited for your skin condition or ask one of our dedicated consultants for a recommendation!
DiamondGlow Facials
One of our DSC DiamondGlow facials is highly recommended before special occasions. DiamondGlow delivers simultaneous 3 in 1 exfoliation, infusion, and extraction with SkinMedica ProInfusion Serums to leave the skin hydrated, soft, and exfoliated. DiamondGlow is a great way to reveal fresh soft skin, even out skin tone and discoloration, clear pores of clogs and debris, and hydrate skin. Our highly experienced aestheticians will choose the best serum solution to infuse into your skin or even mix serums as necessary.
DiamondGlow is a facial treatment device that uses a diamond grit tip to gently exfoliate while simultaneously infusing skin with serum. The tips are interchangeable, with different grits to suit your skin’s exfoliation needs. Gentle suction allows skin to meet the exfoliating treatment tip and deliver serum to the skin; this suction also pulls away used solution along with loosened dead skin cells, dirt, oil, and other debris into a waste jar.
If you will be wearing a dress with a low back or no straps, we also offer DiamondGlow body treatments! Treating the arms can help the appearance of keratosis pilaris (KP or “strawberry skin”), while treating the back can help clear clogged pores and “bacne.”
Valmont Facials
For Valmont Cosmetics lovers, a Valmont facial is a fabulous way to prep the skin right before any big occasion. Great for dryer skin or as an ultra-luxe treat to pamper yourself.

Skin Booster Treatments
If you are interested in improving overall skin quality, you may be interested in trying a skin booster treatment. Skin booster treatments are microinjections of custom cocktails of hyaluronic acid (HA) and other vitamins, peptides, exosomes, antioxidants, and ingredients like PDRN or PDN all over the skin of the face and/or neck. HA is a naturally-occurring sugar molecule in the skin that attracts water, which is why it is a common ingredient used in skincare products. Crosslinked HA, or HA with more intramolecular hydrogen bonds (like in dermal fillers), is more viscous and stiff, which lends itself well to plumping and volumizing skin. This is what allows for the contour changes and volumizing effects of injectable dermal filler treatments. In contrast, the HA in skin booster cocktails is generally more dilute and less crosslinked. Think of the difference in texture between jello and maple syrup.
Superficial injection delivery of skin booster solution all over the skin leads to plump and radiant skin that is hydrated from within. Topically applied HA (like in skincare) cannot penetrate the skin because the molecules are too large; typically, skincare containing HA can only hydrate the surface layers of the skin. Injection allows for bypassing of the skin barrier which allows skin to be hydrated from within. The HA used in skin booster formulations is typically non-cross linked HA, which can stimulate collagen and elastin neogenesis. Skin booster cocktails are highly customizable – exosomes, peptides, vitamins, glutathione, PDRN, PRN, and more can be included in addition to HA for anti-aging, rejuvenating, brightening, or oxidation-prevention purposes.

Skin booster treatments are minimally invasive and suitable for nearly everyone because they improve overall skin quality. This treatment is a great choice to help skin look its best and to minimize the amount of foundation or skin makeup needed. However, because they involve injections, superficial as they may be, treatments should be scheduled at least 3-4 weeks before the big day to minimize risk of apparent bruising. This also allows results to be apparent as the injected HA needs time to attract water to hydrate skin.
Laser Treatments
Lasers are light or energy-based devices with a huge range of purposes. While specific treatments are going to depend on individual skin condition, a few general all-purpose treatments will be described here for the purpose of general skin improvement.
A great beginner friendly laser treatment is a Pico laser toning treatment. While a Pico laser is incredibly powerful and has many uses (e.g. resurfacing texture due to acne scarring, smoothing enlarged pores, reducing pigmentation, treating birthmarks, and even removing unwanted tattoos), a toning treatment is gentle and non-invasive. Pico toning can help improve skin elasticity and quality by gradually building and remodeling collagen, smoothing fine lines, evening out overall skin tone and color, and improving dullness. A series of Pico toning treatments is a great way to gently improve skin with minimal downtime.
A 1927 thulium laser like LaseMD Ultra is another great option to reduce skin pigmentation, even out skin tone, and provide gentle rejuvenation of the skin. LaseMD Ultra is a fractional laser that works by treating the superficial skin. Therefore, this laser treatment is a great option for rejuvenating the skin to improve fine lines, wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation, dark spots, sunspots, freckles, and signs of sun damage. The 1927 nm wavelength is comfortable and suitable for a wide range of skin types.
Laser treatments are highly subjective depending on skin type and condition. More specific skin concerns such as acne scarring, deeper wrinkles, or melasma pigmentation will require more extensive, comprehensive treatments that may include other adjunctive combo.
Skin Tightening & Lifting Treatments
To improve the contours of the jawline, tighten crepey skin, or non-invasively lift skin of the face, eye area, neck, or décolleté, consider a skin lifting or tightening treatment like Thermage, Ultherapy, or RF microneedling.
Thermage
Thermage is a radiofrequency, non-invasive skin tightening treatment that can treat the face, neck, eyelids, and almost anywhere on the body. As an FDA-approved treatment for improving skin laxity in the eyelids, it is a great option to refresh the eye area. While it is possible to treat the eyelids with lasers, this is generally a much more invasive treatment that has downtime. Thermage is a great option with no downtime. It also can treat the face and neck to build collagen, tighten skin, and jumpstart neocollagenesis. RF treatments are not suitable for those are pregnant or those with pacemakers. DSC has the latest, 5th-generation Thermage device: the FLX device.

Ultherapy
Ultherapy utilizes high intensity ultrasound energy to regenerate collagen and lift and tighten skin. This is great for rejuvenating sagging skin of the jawline, neck, lower face, and even brow area. It is a non invasive treatment that uses ultrasound to scan and visualize the skin being treated, which allows for accurate targeting of collagen in the skin. Delivering energy to collagen in the skin denatures the existing collagen, kickstarting the wound healing process and allowing new collagen to be generated in its place. This gives the face a refreshed, lifted look. DSC offers both Ultherapy and the latest version, Ultherapy PRIME.

RF Microneedling
For a stronger RF-based skin tightening treatment, consider a series of RF microneedling treatments for the face, face and neck, or even face, neck, and chest. RF microneedling can also treat the abdomen, arms, legs, and many other areas of the body. RF microneedling treatments at DSC include Genius RF microneedling and Morpheus8 RF microneedling. Microneedling treatments, where needles are stamped into the skin in a grid-like fashion, induce the wound healing response in order to trigger collagen neogenesis and skin rejuvenation. Different treatment depths are chosen for different treatment areas. The needles bring RF energy to treated areas, allowing for even stronger rejuvenating effects than just microneedling alone. Results do take time to be apparent, usually 2-3 months after treatment, so be sure to book treatments with enough time to maximize effect.
No matter what type of beauty treatment you are interested in before a big day like a wedding, DSC is here to answer your questions. We offer a comprehensive list of services in Los Angeles, including injectable treatments, laser treatments, energy-based skin treatments like Thermage, Ultherapy, and RF microneedling, as well as facials and body contouring and sculpting treatments. Our experienced consultants are happy to answer your questions, recommend treatments, and design customized treatment plans.
